This is what it will look like when finished (hopefully):

This is only my second sweater to knit, hence the hopefully. I'm really enjoying the pattern work on this one (is that how you say it, knitters?). I'm looking forward to those sleeves with all those bobbles, but for now I'm working on the front and have finished the back.
It looks like I'll be knitting the neckband onto the front and back to attach it, and then I'll seam the rest. Reading the pattern has been much more difficult on this one than my first sweater, which was a guided Craftsy course. It's so rewarding, though! I love that with knitting, it's seemingly so lazy, and then after lots and lots of time, you've got yourself a lovely sweater!
What are y'all up to? Working on anything fun?
THAT IS SO IMPRESSIVE! I can't believe it's only your second jumper... you have some mad knitting skillz, lady. Bring on the bobbles!
ReplyDeleteThanks, friend!
DeleteIt looks like you're making great progress on this jumper, especially considering it's your second knitted sweater! There is definitely an interesting stitch pattern going on there. I really like the zigzag at the upper bust.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I can't wait to see how it actually looks on.
DeleteReading posts like this make me wish I could knit...I have tried but have no patience for it and if I'm honest dont really understand the pattern terminology. As Jenny said this is impressive especially as this is only your second jumper. Looking forward to seeing the finished article!
ReplyDeleteYou know, it took me forever to get into it. I think I just had to push past that first hurdle of figuring out how to troubleshoot basic mistakes, and then it got easier. I hope I can get it done while it's still marginally cold out!
DeleteThat's going to be gorgeous, I've always loved that pattern! Can't wait to see the finished sweater! I'm working on a ski pullover right now and it feels like the sleeves are taking me foreeeeeever. lol
ReplyDeleteForever for you is probably the speediest of speedy for me. You are such a fast knitter! Can't wait to see you pullover!
DeleteNeato! I love the little bubbles---very cute. I wish I had the patience....maybe one of these days! I'm making another little mini gogo dress out of some psychedelic material that used to be a maxiskirt. Yay, repurposing!
ReplyDeleteYour bobbles are fab!
ReplyDeleteI knit a Catkin shawlette as a sweater for over a year; I moved forward, I frogged back, two forward, one back. For a year. I kinda forgot I finished it in the swelter of summer and it got lost in a closet shuffle. I've been wearing as often as possible this winter. You will finish this. it will take forever but it's going to be stylin' forever, so it's all going to be good.
That's looking fantastic! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a 1930s sweater that is knit in the round... on straight needles. I've never knitted in the round, so it will be a challenge for me! I've read through the directions about five times, and I think I've got it! We'll see!
Wait, on straight needles, or dpns? I can't figure out how the former would work. If the latter, I'm almost certain you could do it on a circular.
DeleteIt looks great so far - can't wait to see it finished! I'm currently working on my first cardigan. I agree that it's tricky to figure out knitting patterns at first, but it's definitely rewarding!
ReplyDeleteOh, good luck! I hope you're enjoying it!
DeleteI too caught the knitting bug in the past year. Every once in awhile I get freaked out by directions, but I'm trying to train myself to not be afraid of ripping back. It seems though that with some things there's a bit of a margin for error. . .
ReplyDeleteI'm now on my 6th cardigan(!), which just seems amazing. It's a lovely tweedy grey thing with some cables.
Wow, you're on a roll! That cable cardigan sounds superb.
Deleteoh goodness I'm just now debating whether or not to pick the crochet needle back up after 15 years, I don't think I could do knitting , I tried years ago & it just wasnt for me lol! Happy Knitting!
ReplyDeleteHelen
Happy crocheting!
DeleteI first learned how to cast on in 2006 and have never looked back, I'm completely addicted!! All my other crafts fell into the background. It took me a few more years to move past hats, scarves, bags, and other smaller projects. Last year I really caught the sweater bug and made 10 or more sweaters (really, I lost count cause I didn't blog about every one of them). I love every pattern in the Stitch in Time series, I hope some day to actually buy it and knit them all. Your sweater is looking absolutely lovely, I can't wait to see it all finished and your smiling face modeling it.

Wowza! I just looked at your 2014 year in sweaters, and you've done some really lovely pieces this year. I especially like that yellow one!
