I had never sewn for children before little L came along, and I gotta say, it's fantastic. Lukas won't care if it's not perfect, and will likely spit up on it, so it's completely stress free sewing. This pattern was also so fast to sew up. It calls for 1/4" seam allowances, and can easily be done on the serger.
The pattern calls for snaps at the bottom, which is nice and easy for all those diaper changes.
I love the detail of the little pockets! Isn't it just adorable?! This romper was just too cute, so I had to squeeze in one more post before I head to Beacon, NY for Gertie's Sewing Retreat. If you're on instagram, you can follow along with our fun with the hashtag #gertieretreat.

Adorable Lauren! Are small pieces like this put together in a flash compared to the dresses you've been doing?
ReplyDeleteYes!! It's an afternoon vs many days. Instant gratification!
DeleteSo sweet. I love the print.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I love that children's prints are so colorful.
DeleteAw, so cute. I really love the print, the colored ears are just adorable!
ReplyDeleteThey're the best part!
DeleteOh that is so dear. I have a new small person arriving soon courtesy of my bro and his lady so I can't wait to do tiny threads :)
ReplyDeleteOh, congratulations!! It's so fun.
DeleteSo cute! And I love elephants (they're lucky, you know;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Siri! I did a report on elephants in elementary school, I think. I love hearing facts like that.
Deleteso cyoote! My friend had a baby in Sept and i made him a little quilted blankie. baby clothes are always so cute, but yes, the whole pooping and puking part makes it seem like its all a bit hard. and then of course they grow out of it! how rude! haha
ReplyDeleteHahaha. True! I think with little girls it's a bit easier. A sewing friend was telling me she sewed dresses for friends' girls, and they were able to wear them from ages 1-6! That's impressive.
DeleteThat's so incredibly cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alison!
DeleteLauren, I just LOVE this romper. So cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kelly! Doesn't it just make you smile?!
