    1. Oh, Houndstooth sounds like an excellent idea!! Craftsy just did a post that it was one of the big trends from Fashion Week http://www.craftsy.com/blog/2013/09/houndstooth-knits-top-patterns/. You're spot on for the season!

  2. I'd go for the collar version in double jersey knit, maybe with a contrasting coloured collar. I think it would have a bit of a Chanel vibe.

  5. I like turquoise linen too. I also like peach. I'm thinking one of each!

  6. Hmmmm... I have some awesome cotton double gauze that would make such a cute and comfy version! Maybe with a contrasting bow, I love that little bow. Also, short sleeves here, even for the winter! Can always add a cardi if necessary. ;)

  7. This is such a gorgeous pattern. It looks right off the cover of an early 60s pattern. I think I'd like it in a cheery red with the Peter Pan collar in something contrasting--so early 60s collegiate!

  8. Gorgeous pattern! I think I'd probably try the collared version in my new favourite fabric - cotton duck! I've seen some rather lovely spaceman silhouette fabric that'd be just perfect!

Also, the tulipy version sounds very cool indeed! Can't wait to see! :-)

  9. Great giveaway! This is such a cute pattern for showcasing prints. I'd probably go for the bow version with quarter length sleeves first. Possibly in a yummy wool. Then come back to the peter pan collar and cap sleeves in spring in a pretty cotton.

  10. Woo hoo I just posted to Facebook as well. Not sure how I put the link in here but can show the post if needed.

  11. I just can't get your teal version out of my head when I see this pattern, so I think I would probably go with a solid (though maybe that would change when I see your tulip-y one...). I have some bright pink linen that has been asking to be made into a sheath dress, that i think would appreciate the bow detail on this.

  12. thank you for the generous opportunity to win. i would make the long sleeved version but no collar, with a bow at waist. i would try to find a lovely super soft wool to make it in with a silk lining. i think a deep teal would be lovely or maybe a mustard yellow.

  14. I think I'd make the collared version first. I'd like it in royal blue, but would need to spend some time in the fabric shop to find something just right.
    Thank you for the give-away!

  15. Hi! I like the collared version and I would make it from some lovely dark wool for the upcoming winter.
    Thanks!

  16. I would make the long-sleeved and collared version in a wool for this winter! Thanks!

  17. Oh yay! There's a lovely purple and mint bird print that I feel would look lovely made up into the Emery, especially with a mint collar,

  18. And I also tweeted about the giveaway! Double yay!

  19. I love this pattern. You did a great job on the dress.

  20. Your dress is adorable! I can't wait to see your other two dresses. I would definitely sew the collar and 3/4 sleeves, probably in a polka dot or maybe gingham! Thanks for the opportunity!

    1. Thank you, April! Gingham sounds like a splendid idea!! I might have to make a fourth just for that!

  21. The bow is adorable, but I can see myself wearing the collared version more. It has just the right mix of cute and class. I'd make it with 3/4 sleeves, in wool. I'm obsessed with wool at the moment! I need more solid pieces in my wardrobe right now so I would look for a jewel tone, like emerald green, deep red, or sapphire blue.

  22. I've fallen for this pattern soooo hard! But sadly I'm on a self-imposed pattern buying moratorium for 6 months (*shakes fists at Fate*). But winning a giveaway would be within the rules!

I'd have to go for a big floral print. I do love me a floral!

And to maximise my chances, I've shared by blogging here: http://beassewingadventures.wordpress.com/2013/09/14/the-emery-dress-buzz/ AND I've tweeted it too (@MissBeaCurtis). Can you tell I'd really like this pattern?

  23. What a fun blog! I'm glad I found it. I'd love this pattern and think my sewing students would too!

  25. That's a beaut! Since you ask, I'd make one with two different shades of grey - light for the body and darker for the collar/bow.

  26. Your version looks just darling! Good luck to everyone:)

  27. This is such a gorgeous pattern! I'd make the dress with the collar, I always love a good collar :)

  28. Gorgeous pattern. I would make the dress without the collar, I've seen some gorgeous black fabric with red cherries on it, so i would use that.

  29. I just adore this dress and reading your blog is fun. I can see a tiny floral print in a cotton lawn with a white or offwhite collar. Can't wait to see if I win!

  31. I would do it with a black wool bodice and a black, red and white plaid bottom with a red bow...perfect for the holidays! Definitely a collar on it...

  32. Wowsa, I love the collar version! I see it in a teal fabric with a white collar.

  33. I really liked your version of the collared view. Maybe the library setting had something to do with it... :)
I'd make the collared version too, but probably with short sleeves, in a muted print with solid contrasting collar.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I would make the bow version of this dress in a cotton print, or jersey. If I could find it I would use a cherry print (I ADORE cherry points!) and use a plain for the bow.....possibly in red.

  35. I am craving a cozy dress in a deep eggplant color fabric of some kind, wool perhaps, with contrasting collar and 3/4 sleeve. This would be a perfect Autumn dress :) Shared link on Facebook!

  36. Hello! I've just found & followed your blog and love all your versions of the Emery dress - it's obviously a great pattern. If the giveaway is open internationally, count me in (I'm in the UK). I think I'd end up making a few versions of the dress myself, but the first idea that came to mind was a 3/4 sleeve version in a spotty fabric with a collar to match the spots - would be a good way to brighten up my autumn/winter wardrobe!

  37. I've just found your blog and have loved seeing your Emerys. I've been looking forward to the release date and I can't wait to have a go myself. I am thinking of using a corduroy, which will be cosy for the cold months ahead, in the long sleeved version. I love this pattern and can see me sewing.it up in both versions many times over!
