Rosie Wednesday in Generation Q Magazine and a Giveaway!

Hello stitchers, and welcome new readers! I am thrilled to share with you that I and several other talented gals are in this month's Generation Q Magazine! The article is, "Trendology: Vintage Sewing." I'm positively giddy! See where you can get a copy.

About the Article

Linda Hamlin, the author, interviewed me along with Gretchen from Gertie's New Blog for Better Sewing, Rochelle from Lucky Lucille, and Lynn from the Little Red Hen.

There are some wonderful tips and pitfalls to avoid when sewing with vintage, including recommended further reading from all of us. You also get a glimpse into what each of us likes to sew, like my Joan dress above!
As Linda spoke to each of us, she said she saw a theme emerging about the online sewing community and how wonderful and educational it is. I couldn't agree more. I am the sewer I am today because of tutorials and inspiration from bloggers like the wonderful ladies in this article. It was an honor to be included with them!

  1. Fantastic! I love GenQ and vintage style. My mom taught me to sew when I was little, and I've been dying to make my own full-skirted '50's dress to wear whenever I feel like it, I just need to find the time and the yardage! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Congratulations on the interview!
I taught myself to sew about twenty years ago but got sidetracked by other interests and am now getting back into it.

  3. My mom taught me how to sew in the early 90's, but being the teenager I was, I made a few scrunchies, ('member those?! Lol), and left it at that. As I grew out of my more tom boy look, I noticed that vintage and vintage reproduction dresses were really out of my budget. Besides, being a tall girl, they didn't fit right anyway. So I got out me grandmothers sewing machine and have been at it ever since!

Congratulations on the article! I hope I win :)

    1. Oh, scrunchies!! Of course I remember those! I had years of obsessive pajama-pant sewing before I started doing vintage clothes. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Congrats! According to my grandma, sewing is in my blood. Her mother sewed all her clothes, and my mother sews and designs her own clothes. I have been sewing ever since I was little. I LOVE vintage designs and just sewed up my first vintage dress. I cannot wait to make more :)
